Dawn’s World Weekly News 4 1 2011

I’ve never been much of a fan of April Fools pranks – how about  you?

A summary of things that caught my interest this week:

@writerchanelle did a nice interview piece on Baby Boomers, Social Media and job searching.

I subscribe to CopyBlogger and as I was reading The 4 Words That Will Get Your Email Opened I received an email with the 4 words. I thought it was one of my buddies being funny – but it wasn’t.   I imagine there were a slew of such emails.

A very nice article from Alicia Anderson The “Don’t Call Me” Culture and How Sales and Marketing Must Adapt.

Someone was asking me about podcasts, don’t remember who, but here are 7 Tips for Launching a Successful Podcast

Mack Collier’s blog is one of my favorites.  He’s always testing the conventional wisdom.  I think you’ll enjoy The one blog post that got me over $22,000 in consulting business.

Any reference to a Christopher Guest movie will always get read by me. @MargieClayman serves up 5 Social Media Tips from A Mighty Wind.

Wonder what it says about me that I can’t keep the right brain/left brain thing straight?  Nice post by @gwenm4

Glad you liked the post, Dawn. Which way did you see the dancer spinning?

  2. Another great round-up, Dawn. You come up with some terrific articles. I’m always struggling to keep up with my reading.

I enjoyed Gwen’s–according to the quiz she linked to, I’m right-brained, but I see the dancer change direction.

Chanelle interviewed me (and others) for her Boomer post. We were both a bit surprised when one of my comments got quoted on the AARP’s website! I’ve been chuckling over how Chanelle was my link to AARP. http://blog.aarp.org/2011/03/31/career-bootcamp-should-i-twitter/

In answer to your question, I do enjoy April Fools jokes, but steer clear unless they’re from trusted sources. Google does good ones, but I know they won’t do anything that isn’t reversible (like turning your search results to Comic Sans).
