The Mailing List

I believe with all my heart that good marketing is memorable, valuable and frequent.  It tells and builds a compelling story.  It can educate.  It can entertain.  Maybe even at the same time.

I am often asked “what works?”  Should money be poured into SEO or pay per click?  Direct mail or telemarketing?  Events or advertising?

The answer to those questions depends on your target audience.  Truth be told, you’d be better off spending money up front to make sure your list is targeting profitable, ideal, future customers.  The next place I’d invest time and money is develop a compelling message.

I am about to launch a direct mail campaign.  My goal is to be memorable, valuable and frequent in such a way as to add a few new clients.  I’ve been making a list and checking it twice. I putting together some 3D mailings that aim to be fun, valuable and brand-building.

Then this morning a thought occurred to me – if you are a regular reader here, you might want to be on this mailing list.

What’s in it for you?  You might decide that your business needs to get its marketing house in order and that I am the right person to do that for you.  Together we set upon finding you profitable, ideal, future customers who value what you do, are repeat customers and refer you to others.  You get to see my marketing in action.

Or maybe, simply by receiving my mailings, you get some ideas for how you might reach out to your target market without me.  I’m OK with that.

What’s in it for me?  You might decide you want to do business with me (as mentioned above).  But I’d also be very interested in your reaction to my pieces – negative and positive.  While you might not be in a position to engage with me, you might be able to better refer my consulting service to a friend or colleague who is looking to grow their business.
